Pre Op
What’s Expected of Me?
Please inform your doctor of all current medications you are taking. Please stop taking all Aspirin products such as Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, and Motrin at least 1 week prior to your surgery date.
If you are on any blood thinning medication, ask your doctor about discontinuing before surgery. These medications can increase the risk of bleeding and complications of anesthesia.
Must have a ride to and from surgery! You will NOT be able to drive for 24 hours after surgery.
WHEN TO STOP EATING BEFORE SURGERY:
Solid Foods - Stop eating 8 hours prior to surgery. ex: steak, apples, meats.
Soft Foods - Stop eating 6 hours prior to surgery. ex: mashed potatoes, jello, yogurt.
Drink - You can have sips of water (only) up to 2 hours before your surgery.
Please inform your doctor of any illness or skin conditions you may have prior to surgery.
Please inform your doctor of any medication changes between pre-operative appointment and surgery day.
Doing small exercises in the areas surrounding your injury can improve the blood flow, decrease swelling, and loosen up the tissues to help you heal after surgery.
Make sure to plan accordingly.
