Dr. William Huettner, MD, is a highly skilled and fellowship-trained Hand and Microsurgeon with advanced training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and General Surgery. With a background in both medicine and science, Dr. Huettner combines meticulous surgical precision with an exceptional understanding of human anatomy and tissue healing.
After earning his Medical Degree from Indiana University, Dr. Huettner pursued a Master of Science in Biology at Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University, laying the foundation for his multidimensional expertise.
What truly sets Dr. Huettner apart is his elite fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky—one of the most prestigious hand surgery fellowships in the world. There, he refined his skills in complex upper extremity surgery, microsurgical techniques, and advanced reconstructive procedures.

Past Experience – A Path Defined by Excellence
Dr. Huettner’s surgical career is rooted in a robust combination of academic achievement, rigorous clinical training, and hands-on mastery. He completed his General Surgery residency at William Beaumont Hospital, one of Michigan’s leading healthcare institutions, where he gained comprehensive experience in operative care.
He then advanced to Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training at Wayne State University, sharpening his abilities in soft tissue reconstruction, wound management, and cosmetic principles—all critical in delicate hand procedures.
His fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute further propelled his expertise, exposing him to a vast range of complex nerve repairs, tendon transfers, microsurgery, and traumatic hand reconstructions. This experience prepared him to manage both routine and highly challenging cases with confidence and compassion.
Dr. Huettner now brings his world-class training and years of surgical experience to the patients of Katranji Hand Center, where his precision and care have restored function to countless hands.
