What Is Erchonia Laser Therapy?
Erchonia laser therapy is a form of low-level laser therapy (LLLT), also known as cold laser therapy, that uses non-thermal (non-heating) laser light to stimulate healing in injured tissues. Unlike traditional surgical lasers that cut or burn tissue, Erchonia lasers use low-intensity light energy to encourage cellular function and repair—without pain, heat, or side effects.
Erchonia was the first company to receive FDA clearance for low-level laser use in the treatment of pain and inflammation.
How It Works
Erchonia lasers emit light at specific wavelengths (often 635 nm or red light) that penetrate the skin and reach the underlying tissues. The light energy:
Stimulates mitochondria (the cell's energy producers)
Increases ATP production (cellular energy)
Reduces inflammation
Improves circulation
Accelerates tissue repair
This process is called photobiomodulation—light energy triggering beneficial biological changes in cells.
Conditions Treated with Erchonia Laser Therapy
Erchonia laser therapy can be used for a variety of musculoskeletal, neurological, and soft tissue conditions, including:
Nerve injuries (e.g., carpal tunnel syndrome, brachial plexus injuries)
Tendinitis and trigger finger
Joint pain and arthritis (e.g., thumb CMC arthritis)
Muscle strains and sprains
Post-operative healing (reducing pain and swelling)
Wound healing and scar management
Plantar fasciitis
Back and neck pain
Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
Treatment Experience
Non-invasive and painless
No heat, sound, or vibration
Sessions typically last 5–20 minutes, depending on the area and condition
No downtime—patients can return to daily activities immediately
Most patients describe the experience as relaxing. Treatments may be done several times a week, depending on the severity of symptoms and the response to therapy.
Benefits of Erchonia Laser Therapy
Reduces pain without medication
Decreases inflammation and swelling
Accelerates tissue repair and cell regeneration
Improves range of motion and function
Safe for people of all ages
No known side effects
Is It Right for You?
Erchonia laser therapy may be a great option if you:
Want to avoid or delay surgery
Prefer non-drug, non-invasive treatment
Are recovering from injury or surgery
Have chronic pain or inflammation not responding to traditional methods
Your healthcare provider or hand specialist can evaluate whether Erchonia laser therapy is appropriate for your specific diagnosis and treatment plan.
